Arizona's unemployment landscape is showing promising signs of improvement with a notable decrease in unemployment claims, as revealed by data from WalletHub. The state has experienced a welcome dip of nearly 10%, situated as the fifth-ranked state nationwide for the reduction in these claims year-over-year, through June 30. In numbers provided by ABC15, the claims have fallen by 9.43% compared to the previous year.
However, Arizona has seen unemployment claims rise slightly, by 0.66% week-over-week as of June 30, according to WalletHub. Despite this minor increase, Arizona's unemployment claims were still 24.67% lower than the same week last year. Meanwhile, the state ranks No. 25 for unemployment claims per 100,000 people in the labor force, providing a broader context for the state's labor market health.
On a national scale, the unemployment scenario is also looking relatively stable. Last week, the number of Americans applying for jobless benefits inched down to 245,000, a figure that rests comfortably within what has historically been considered a healthy band. The drop from the previous week's 250,000 was reported by the Labor Department and covered by PBS NewsHour.
