Arlington's Southeast Branch Library is launching a series of health classes targeting senior wellbeing, including prevention and management strategies for common age-related health concerns; these free sessions run from August to September in partnership with the Tarrant County Public Health Department, offering a rare opportunity for locals to receive valuable health education at no cost, though pre-registration is a must to secure a spot given the limited space available.
Senior citizens, who often bear the brunt of osteoporosis, can attend a focused class at 2 p.m. on August 14 to learn about the risk factors and preventative strategies for bone loss, according to the Arlington Public Library announcement. Another session, named Move & Groove, happening on August 28, invites attendees to explore creative ways to incorporate physical activity that can bolster both the body and mind, advocating for the importance of a balanced exercise routine for all age groups.
On September 11, a Heart Health Awareness class will equip participants with vital information on conditions impacting the heart, including high blood pressure and diabetes, coupled with blood pressure screenings for practical insights; the concluding session, taking place on September 25, dwells on Nutrition: Label Reading, empowering individuals to decipher food labels to make healthier food choices and aiding in chronic disease prevention and management.
