As part of a $24.6 million Parks and Recreation Bond Program, the city has earmarked $3 million for the revamp slated to commence next year, per details sourced from the City of Arlington's official announcement.
Sport nuts and leisure lovers can chime in on upgrades that run the gamut from a fresh coat of paint to spanking new gym gear, and with your two cents in the mix, the wish list might just get ticked off; whether you're a daily jogger on its tracks or you've never set foot in the door, every voice counts in molding the center for the better. "We are committed to creating a revitalized Elzie Odom Athletic Center that truly serves the needs and desires of our community," Parks and Recreation Director James Orloski elucidated, as the survey results will supposedly steer the project, guiding the spending of those millions. Design firm Elements of Architecture is waiting in the wings, ready to craft plans based on the community's feedback, with shovels expected to hit the dirt come February 2026 and the ribbon-cutting penciled in for May 2027, James Orloski told the City of Arlington.
