Last Monday, Austin Allen Rhinesmith, who was previously adjudicated guilty for Lewd or Lascivious Molestation and Lewd and Lascivious Conduct, was convicted for failing to report a change of address as required by his sex offender registration in Florida. According to information from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Rhinesmith received a sentence of three years from the Florida Department of Corrections.
Rhinesmith's transfer to state custody was completed last Thursday, following his stint at the Hernando County Detention Center. Initiated by an address verification check on January 6, when residents of Rhinesmith's registered address disclosed he was living elsewhere, Rhinesmith's failure to update his location sparked his arrest, and subsequent legal proceedings.
Further investigation by Detective G. Marcacci revealed that Rhinesmith, born on September 12, 2000, had been staying with his girlfriend at another address since at least September 2024. However, neither his Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) sex offender profile nor his Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) records reflected this change, despite his obligation to report such moves.
Following his arrest on January 9, Rhinesmith admitted to Detective Marcacci that he had been living at 385 Union Street Apartment #49 with his girlfriend since January 1. Nonetheless, his omission to update his address landed him a charge for violating his registration requirements, with the Sheriff's Office stating "Rhinesmith was arrested without incident and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center where, he is being held without bond."
