Summer in Baltimore County is about to get more animated, and I mean that quite literally, folks. In an announcement that has the community eagerly gathering around, the Department of Recreation and Parks has confirmed the return of Screen on the Green. Accompanying these evenings will be a spread of pre-movie activities, starting at 6 p.m. with yard games, dancing, and arts and crafts, designed to entertain and engage families before the main feature begins at 7 p.m.

The lineup for this year includes an array of family-friendly flicks from the magical melodies of "Wicked" to the digital domains of "Minecraft," and let's not forget "Soul" which promises to, well, soothe your soul with its jazzy journey through the great before, also, dancing, arts, and crafts will be out there to keep the kids—and let's be realistic, some of the adults—busy before the shows start. Additionally, Baltimore County is inaugurating the Days of Play program, aimed at providing children ages eight to 14 with free, supervised outdoor activities through July, sessions will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and all that's required is a parent or guardian to sign their offspring up at the location.

This summer's Screen on the Green is scheduled to kick off with "Wicked" at Hannah More Park on July 11, followed by "Charlotte’s Web" at the Center for Maryland Agriculture on July 18, and so on through September—marking the end of the series with "50 First Dates" at Fullerton Community Center.
