The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reports that the Bayou Dularge Bridge, which originally opened in 1977, is now open to vehicle traffic during weekday rush hours. Motorists can use the bridge Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. At other times, marine traffic is allowed to pass. Construction work continues, and DOTD will provide ongoing updates to the public.
Terrebonne Parish has experienced several bridge closures and repairs recently. One notable project is the Company Canal Bridge, which was replaced by a brand-new $30.4 million structure that opened on June 30. Additionally, the Boudreaux Canal Bridge on LA 56 is scheduled for an expedited reopening by the end of this month, a full month earlier than originally planned. Significant progress has been reported, with plans to put out bids next summer for a future $30 million replacement bridge.
Additional infrastructure updates include repairs to the Daigleville Bridge, managed by C.E.C., Inc., with reopening expected in October. Essential bridge cables are scheduled to arrive in early August. Meanwhile, the Bayou Blue Pontoon Bridge was damaged in a boat collision and is currently being repaired by Reliant Industrial Solutions, LLC, who have been working extensively on various bridge components. The repair is anticipated to be completed by the end of August, offering relief to those impacted by the closure.
DOTD states that bridges will be closed only when they are deemed unsafe for public use and commits to promptly addressing any issues. The department acknowledges that bridge closures can cause disruptions for commuters but emphasizes that driver safety remains the highest priority, in compliance with all federal guidelines. With some bridges in the area exceeding fifty years of age and requiring specialized maintenance, maintaining consistent traffic flow presents ongoing challenges.
