Residents of Bellevue, mark your calendars to lace up your walking shoes and dive into the essence of your community. The city's annual Neighborhood Walks series is making its return for the ninth consecutive summer. Scheduled to grace three distinctive Bellevue neighborhoods, these walks offer a unique platform for citizens to engage with city officials and voice their insights on the quirks and needs of their communities.
Interested locals can join in on July 10, 23, and 24 for the BelRed Arts District, Eastgate, and Cougar Mountain/Lakemont walks, as reported by the city’s website. Even if you're not up for the stroll, which typically spans 1.5 miles and lasts around 90 minutes, you can still swing by the kickoff points for some quality time with your neighbors and city representatives. There’s a chance to share what’s happening in your slice of Bellevue no matter which corner of it you inhabit.
The series starts with the BelRed Arts District on July 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Gather at the BelRed Station at Spring Boulevard and 132nd Avenue Northeast to get an up-close look at the area's creativity with none other than Sandy Vo, executive director of the BelRed Arts District Community Alliance. You can learn more about the BelRed Arts District Community Alliance here.
Following this, the Eastgate area invites residents for a walk on July 23, promising a similar timeframe. The starting line is stationed at the South Bellevue Community Center located at 14509 SE Newport Way. Wrapping up the series, the Cougar Mountain/Lakemont area will host its walk on July 24, commencing from the Lewis Creek Visitor Center, 5805 Lakemont Blvd. SE, with the added benefit of Mandarin interpretation for those in need.
The City of Bellevue highlights that these walks are more than just exercise. They serve as a bridge between residents' daily experiences and the city's future planning initiatives. Engage, listen, and speak—this is your chance to shape the narrative of your neighborhood. Details for the event are accessible at the city’s official news post here.
