A 42-year-old Benton Harbor man has been arrested following a significant drug bust in close proximity to Benton Harbor High School. The raid, coordinated by the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) alongside the Berrien County Sheriff's Office and the Michigan State Police K9 Unit, unearthed narcotics and paraphernalia indicative of distribution and drug manufacturing.
Authorities carried out a search warrant yesterday at a residence located on Lavette Street, a mere stone's throw, less than 300 feet from the educational institution, as described in a report by WZZM13. In executing the warrant, 15 grams of crack cocaine were discovered along with a smaller quantity of cocaine and a digital scale. Additional evidence found was associated with the narcotics trade.
The suspect, being the homeowner, was apprehended and is now facing multiple charges. According to information obtained by WSBT, the charges include the delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school and maintaining a drug house. The SWET has expressed gratitude to community members who reported suspicious activities.
