The Blaine Police Department has taken to social media to share a retrospective glance at 2024, shedding light on an array of initiatives geared toward amplifying community engagement and reshaping its enforcement tactics. Detailed in a Facebook post published on July 12th, Blaine PD outlined several spheres of development, from personnel enrichment, enforcement enhancements, to community outreach and a reimagined brand identity.

First among the initiatives highlighted was the investment in human capital. Three cadets joined the force through the Intensive Comprehensive Peace Officer Education and Training Grant. A singular post, delivered by the Crime Victim Services Grant, heralded the appointment of a dedicated specialist. A desk officer has returned to the fold but not as they were once known, now assuming a different role within the department's organizational tableau.

On the enforcement front, several new assets have been added to Blaine PD's repertoire. The Flock Safety Cameras, totaling 30, stand vigilant over the city's streets. Further, two Distracted Driving Trucks have been deployed to curb the scourge of inattention behind the wheel. Perhaps most imposing of these new acquisitions is the Bearcat, an armored rescue vehicle, followed by the establishment of the North Command Mobile Field Force Team, consisting of 35 Blaine PD officers. Moreover, bolstering regional collaboration, eight of Blaine's officers have joined the Anoka County SWAT Team.

Overtures toward enhancing community relations are evident through programs such as the Blaine Police Community Alliance and various public outreach efforts which include a mobile outreach trailer and the Blaine Neighborhood Magazine. Social media has been leveraged to bring attention to individual community and staff members through efforts like "Community Spotlight" and "Employee Spotlight."

Adopting a fresh face, Blaine PD has introduced a new patch and badge design, signaling a deeper process of rebranding as their vehicles and uniform insignia don this new identity. Looking ahead, the department has undergone a reorganizational structure to best position itself for 2025. In parallel, plans are afoot for the 105th Entertainment District, promising special event planning that recognizes the historical significance of the area.
