An unsettling discovery was made at Barker Reservoir on July 6th, near the Town of Lyons, when a person fishing reported a body in the water. According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the individual sighted what appeared to be a deceased person floating face-down moments past noon.
Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene, with the Nederland Fire Protection District first to confirm the presence of a deceased male individual. The body was subsequently retrieved by the cold water dive team from Boulder Emergency Squad. As the investigation progresses, the Boulder County Coroner’s Office is tasked to not only ascertain the deceased's identity but also to thoroughly determine the cause and manner of his death.
The situation prompted a multi-agency response, including the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Nederland Fire Protection District, Boulder Emergency Squad, and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office. This collective effort underlines the serious nature of the incident and the community's commitment to quickly address and investigate such occurrences.
