The Placer County Sheriff's Office said a 75-year-old man was found dead in Lake Clementine on Sunday morning. He was reported missing earlier that day after spending the previous day on the water. His boat, truck, and keys were found near the Lower Lake Clementine boat ramp. Officials believe he went into the water and drowned, according to KCRA.
The Placer County Dive Team began a recovery mission on Sunday morning and found the missing man’s body at around 10:30 a.m., as reported by ABC10. Deputies said the operation was slow and methodical due to the steps required in the recovery process.
In a statement to CBS News Sacramento, the sheriff's office said, "We recognize this is a heartbreaking outcome and extend our deepest condolences to the man’s family and friends during this difficult time." The man’s identity has not been released. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
