Boulder County is on the lookout for a new member to join its Emergency Services Grant Program Advisory Committee, particularly seeking a resident from the eastern part of the county. This individual, who should be served by a rural fire district or fire department east of Foothills Highway (US 36) or US 93/Broadway, will contribute their insight to directing grant funding towards enhancing emergency services. Applications are open until Thursday, July 31, as reported by Boulder County.

The committee member would be stepping into a three-year term, joining nine others in shaping the allocation of funds generated from the Emergency Services Sales & Use Tax, ratified by voters via County Issue 1B in 2022. Meeting virtually every fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-8 p.m., the committee enters summer recess, with additional meetings held twice a year for grant reviews, according to Boulder County.

Not just limited to those with emergency service backgrounds, the county is especially interested in candidates who regularly use local trails, belong to the accessibility community, or are enthusiasts of the great outdoors. The goal is to cultivate a panel that reflects a broad array of community perspectives, and diversity and inclusivity are key motivations behind this recruitment drive.

The commitment for the committee members includes eight to ten hours of work around twice a year, focusing on two rounds of grant recommendations for Boulder County. Occasionally convening in Boulder for in-person meetings, the larger part of the engagement is through Zoom sessions in the colder and transitional seasons. Boulder County has shared all the details for interested applicants.
