A Brevard County spectacle unfolded on Tuesday afternoon as Nathaniel Wadleigh engaged in a dangerous mix of firearms and intoxication. Officials said Wadleigh, now in custody, allegedly fired a gun from his vehicle near a Melbourne bar, following which he was apprehended facing charges linked to both the shooting and his driving condition.
Investigation reports detailed by FOX 35 Orlando narrate that deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office and the Melbourne Police Department reacted to reported gunfire at "Be Back’s Lounge" on Aurora Road. Witnesses observed a man, now known as Wadleigh, discharging a firearm before retreating to a red truck, trailed by a black trailer. The subsequent escape from the scene was brief as an officer located Wadleigh parked nearby on the same road.
When authorities approached Wadleigh, he showed clear signs of impairment. Field sobriety tests supported suspicions of intoxication, and breathalyzer results confirmed it—his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. WFTV reported that although Wadleigh was quickly arrested after the incident, the events leading up to it posed a real threat to public safety
Wadleigh is currently in Brevard County Jail, facing serious charges for firing a gun from a vehicle and driving under the influence. When he was brought in, he admitted to having a gun in the car and firing it recently. Thankfully, no one was hurt. He is being held without bond while he awaits trial.
