The City of Burnsville is volleying for public opinion on the addition of new pickleball courts as the sport explodes in popularity, a trend that's mimicked nationwide and certainly hasn't missed the spirited locals of Burnsville.
Officials have set the ball rolling with a series of park pop-ups designed to gather community feedback, think of it as the public court of opinion, if you will, the events are happening across various Burnsville parks, starting with Cliff Fen Park on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. continuing to Rose Park on Monday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and then over to Alimagnet Park on July 31 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., finally wrapping up at Hollows Park on August 2 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
For those who would rather lob their ideas into the digital domain, the city has made provisions for that too. Input can be digitally dropped off at their online platform. An announcement on the official City of Burnsville Facebook page rallied the public with a clear message, "Let's rally together for the future of pickleball in Burnsville!"
It's evident that the city is intent on serving its constituents with the resources they need to enjoy their favorite pastime, which currently involves whacking a perforated polymer ball back and forth over a net, whether those constituents are young guns or seasoned players with a penchant for paddle sports, residents have a suite of opportunities to share their thoughts and perhaps influence where they'll be scoring their next slam.
