In a social media post, the Sheriff's Office welcomed Deputy Jaysten Yount, who is currently completing his Basic Law Enforcement Training. Yount brings military experience, having served four years as an Infantry Squad Leader, Assistant Squad Leader, Fire Team Leader, and Automatic Rifleman in the U.S. Marine Corps. His hobbies include a range of activities from gunsmithing to paintball.
Among the new hires is Detention Officer Joseph Shuping, a veteran with a significant academic porsuit and professional background. Shuping boasts degrees up to a Doctorate of Business Administration and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration. He has previously worked with the NC Department of Corrections and will soon retire from federal service after positions in the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Internal Revenue Service, and U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services. Shuping's law enforcement training includes the District Immigration Officer Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. In his personal life, he shares a passion for cruising with his wife, having completed an impressive 30 cruises to date.
Detention Officer Chandler Bingham transitions from the private sector, where he developed valuable communication and problem solving skills during his four years at Graybar Electric. Bingham's role marks an exciting new chapter in public service, offering a fresh perspective to the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office. Outside of work, he enjoys culinary pursuits, attending live music events, and spending time with his loved ones.
