Infrastructure developments continue to unfold in Carver County, as the latest efforts aim to enhance pedestrian access along the bustling Highway 41/10 intersection. According to a social media post by Carver County Public Works, crews have been working diligently, installing multiple box culverts to create what will become a pedestrian tunnel beneath Highway 10 (Engler Boulevard).
The progress over the past week includes the completion of the Highway 10 pedestrian underpass structure, ongoing storm sewer installation at Highway 41 and White Oak Drive, and near completion of curb and gutter installation expanding from Royal Oak Drive to White Oak Drive. In addition, there has been substantial gravel placement from Royal Oak Drive leading up to Highway 41. Still, despite paving scheduled for Monday, July 28, the stretch of Highway 10 (Engler Boulevard) will remain closed to all forms of traffic. This closure is projected to last until Fall 2025, a date when the revamped Highway 41/10 intersection is expected to reopen to the public.
Looking ahead, residents can anticipate paving activities along Highway 10, on the condition that the weather permits. While this may suggest nearing completion for some, it is critical to note, the closure will persist well beyond this phase. Additional tasks for the ensuing week are highlighted by continued storm sewer work and commencement of preparations for curb and concrete installations along Highway 41.
With these latest updates, the county assures that the end product will not only ease transit for motorists but also ensure safer passage for those traveling by foot. The inclusion of a second underpass on the north side of the future roundabout underscores the commitment to a more pedestrian-friendly environment. Carver County residents have long awaited these changes, and by enacting such infrastructure improvements, the county delivers a promise of both safety and progress.
