In the early morning hours, a daring heist played out at a Cedar City jewelry store as two men, one of whom had been apprehended, attempted to rob approximately $70,000 worth of goods. As FOX 13 reported, Eric Drexel Resma was taken into custody on Sunday, while authorities continue their hunt for his accomplice.

Documents obtained by ABC4 detail that the suspects broke into the store on N Main Street, where the passenger used a crowbar to smash the store's window around 4:25 a.m. on July 27. Resma, 47, allegedly waited in a black Acura RDX with its license plate obscured with underwear, no less, while his partner commenced to shatter display cases, stuffing jewelry into a camo backpack. Resma faces a first-degree felony charge for aggravated burglary, second-degree felony charges for both aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury and theft with a value over $5,000, among other charges.

The situation escalated when the store owner gave chase, resulting in the suspects crashing their vehicle in Pintura. As KSL details, one suspect was apprehended after attempting to hide in the bushes. Recovered at the scene were pieces of jewelry, still bearing price tags, found scattered near the crashed vehicle and within a discarded backpack.

Given the interstate journey Resma undertook, he drove across three states to commit these felonies, the arrest report noted, a statement highlighted by authorities but without specifying his place of origin. The second suspect, still at large, was last spotted wearing a dark-colored hoodie and a mask. Cedar City police are urging residents in the Pintura area to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
