Local swimmers looking to make a splash at the Centennial Park pool in Port Charlotte will have to hold off on their plans later this month. The pool is scheduled to close next Friday at 3 p.m. to make way for an upcoming swim meet, throwing a temporary wet towel on regular aquatic activities. According to Charlotte County officials, the facility will not be accessible to the public throughout the weekend, remaining closed next Saturday and Sunday.
While the closure may disrupt weekend plans, the park's aquatic coordinator Kevin Trowbridge is on hand for any questions swimmers may have about the closure, or the event, itself. Rescheduling lessons, lap swim times, and other programming will undoubtedly prompt inquiries. Trowbridge, can be reached at 941-764-4102 or via email at [email protected]. Any further updates and information regarding the swim meet or pool operations will be communicated through the contacts provided.
Those who frequent Centennial Park can expect to resume their usual water workouts and leisurely dips when the pool reopens on Monday, July 28, at its regular time. Despite the brief hiatus, the pool promises to welcome back the community, refreshed and ready for the remnants of summertime recreation.
