The Ceres Police Department and the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit conducted a raid on Tuesday in Ceres. The operation took place on Rolling Oak Court and led to the arrest of Jaspreet Singh Chohan and the citation of Jasvir Chohan for possession of illegal and dangerous fireworks. Police said about 500 pounds of fireworks were seized, as reported by the Ceres Police Department.
Jaspreet Singh Chohan is facing multiple charges, including felony possession of illegal or dangerous fireworks. In a community advisory, the Ceres Police Department reminded residents to use only “Safe and Sane” fireworks that have the State Fire Marshal Seal. Fireworks that explode or shoot into the air are still illegal under state law. The Ceres Police Department is encouraging the public to report illegal fireworks through a designated hotline or email.
According to the Ceres Police Department on their Facebook page, they are investigating a case involving illegal fireworks and are asking the public for information. Anyone with details can contact Detective Welsh or Stanislaus County CrimeStoppers. Reports can be made anonymously. The department also reminded the public to follow the law and use the reporting options provided in their statement.
