Charlotte County drivers might need to adjust their commutes as construction work is set to impact Dorchester Street in the coming weeks. A section of the southbound right-hand lane of Dorchester Street, from Bachmann Boulevard to Peachland Boulevard, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting next Monday, through to Friday. The closure will allow Irby Construction to conduct work on underground power infrastructure, as reported by the Charlotte County Government website.
Motorists who frequent the area should be prepared to quickly adapt their routes, as travel delays are expected. They are encouraged by the Public Works Department to follow detour signs carefully and to allow extra travel time. The county has issued a traffic advisory, urging drivers to "remain alert at all times" and to "exercise caution when traveling in the vicinity of construction zones."
