Heads up, Peachland Boulevard commuters: prepare to adjust your morning coffee run for the first week of August. According to a Charlotte County traffic advisory, the eastbound right-hand lane from Harbor Boulevard to Birchcrest Boulevard is scheduled to be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting next Monday through Friday. The reason? Irby Construction is set to quickly begin work on underground power infrastructure.
For those who regularly travel through this corridor, the lane closure is sure to complicate the already hectic morning rush. The county has provided a detour with clear signage to guide motorists around the construction zone. However, they should plan to leave earlier than usual to avoid any potential delays. Traffic can unpredictably become a snarl, and this construction work is an added variable in the time-sensitive equation of daily commutes.
Local authorities are keen to minimize disruptions. "The Public Works Department reminds motorists to remain alert at all times and to exercise caution when traveling in the vicinity of construction zones," noted by Charlotte County. It's more than just a suggestion—it's about safety for both the workers on the ground and the drivers passing by.
Questions or concerns? Jeff Halesy of Irby Construction can be reached at 601-317-4150. With summer often being a hotbed for roadway improvements, this closure is but a single thread in the larger tapestry of public works aimed to ultimately better serve the community's transport needs.
