Starting on Monday, hopefuls looking to serve their community can file their candidacy for select local offices. The extended filing window will close promptly at noon on August 1, with office hours for filing running from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, according to the Chatham County news release.
Registrants setting their sights on local government roles have the opportunity to contest for the Town of Goldston Commissioner – Ward 3 and two available seats on the Goldston Gulf Sanitary District board. Interested individuals should be prepared, to present a valid photo ID and pay the filing fee with exact cash or a check made out to Chatham County. A nominal fee of $5 is required to secure a spot in the race, an affordable entry point for public service aspirants.
Prospective candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria, which include being at least 21 years old by Election Day, and must be a resident of Chatham County, particularly in the Town of Goldston or the Goldston Gulf Sanitary District. The Chatham County Board of Elections office, located at 984 Thompson St., Suite D in Pittsboro, NC, will serve as the hub for the candidate filing process.
