The City of Carrollton's knack for crafting compelling, clear public communications has landed them a trifecta of honors at the prestigious 2025 Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Awards, hosted by the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC). Their team, known for cutting through the static to deliver messages with punch, secured top spots among their peers across the nation.
Riding on the back of a stellar marketing campaign, the City took home the first-place prize in the Graphics - Display category for the 2024 Festival at the Switchyard event campaign artwork, according to a press release by the City of Carrollton. Not content with just one accolade, they also snagged a third-place win in Graphic Arts, a clear nod to the talents brewing within the city's Marketing Services team.
But their wins weren’t just about looks. The City of Carrollton also nabbed a second-place award for an Educational or Promotional Campaign, a nod to their innovative Storm Drain Art contest. Launched as a creative initiative to bolster community involvement and awareness about stormwater pollution, local artists painted striking designs on Downtown Carrollton's storm drains. This effort didn't just highlight environmental concerns; it painted a stroke of beauty on the city pavement, making a statement that resonated well beyond city limits.
In the collection of these accolades, Kelli Lewis, the City's Marketing Director, reflected the team's ethos, emphasizing their dedication to "communications that increase citizen engagement, awareness, excitement, and investment in our City." According to the City of Carrollton, she conveyed pride in the city's endeavors to reach the council's vision "to be the community that families and businesses want to call home".
