The City of Davis has launched a YouTube series called "What Do You Do?" to inform residents about the work of city staff. The program, hosted by Jenny Tan, Director of Community Engagement, began in January 2024. Each episode introduces employees from different departments, focusing on their daily responsibilities and reasons for working for the City, according to the City of Davis.
The episodes, each 5–10 minutes long, feature Tan interviewing city employees in their workplaces rather than in a studio. In each segment, Tan asks questions such as "what do you do" and "why do you work for the City," giving viewers a straightforward look at the employees’ roles. The series is designed to be informative, easy to follow, and conversational, as reported by the City of Davis.
