Summer is officially in swing, and Clackamas County is rolling out the green carpet for nature enthusiasts ready to embrace the great outdoors. The County has provided pertinent updates for eager explorers aiming to maximize their experience amidst the scenic splendor of its park system. It's key to note some changes in the parking situation before setting out. According to a recent announcement, less-developed parks such as Wagon Wheel and Feldheimer are set to begin charging a $5 daily parking fee, payable exclusively by text.
In contrast, more established sites like Barton and Carver Park will maintain their $9 daily fee structure. For those planning to quickly immerse themselves in the surroundings of Boring Station Trailhead, the county has switched to an hourly parking arrangement, charging $1 per hour, ideally suited for those looking to make the most of the trails hastily. Unique amongst its peers, the Stone Creek Golf Club keeps its doors open with no parking fee required. The county suggests purchasing an annual or biannual parking pass for regular visitors to save in the long run, with detailed maps and payment options available on Clackamas County's website.
As for extending your stay, the parks offer varied camping opportunities. You can find respite in walk-in, hammock, and van-accessible sites, particularly in the shaded confines of Barton and Metzler Parks. "These shady, quiet areas are perfect for unplugging and unwinding with friends or family," states the County's news release. Meanwhile, Feyrer Park boasts an enhanced playground, and Metzler Park delights with an expanding network of trails.
