During Independence Day weekend, as fireworks celebrations took place, the Clay County Sheriff's Office increased its presence on local waterways through a partnership with Operation Dry Water. In a social media post, the CCSO announced enhanced patrols focused on identifying boating under the influence and unsafe vessel operation during the holiday period.
The initiative aimed to protect the community from the dangers associated with holiday-related boating activities. Marine units patrolled lakes, rivers, and creeks throughout Clay County, monitoring for signs of negligence while promoting safe and responsible boating.
Authorities reminded boaters to celebrate responsibly and comply with sobriety laws to help ensure a safe holiday weekend for everyone.
