The City of Cleveland Heights has extended an invitation to the community for an evening of celebration on Tuesday, August 5, at the park. According to a social media post by the City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio - City Hall, the event will kick off with a free youth soccer clinic at 6:00 PM, followed by a special field event at 7:00 PM, utilizing the park's brand-new turf field.
The call to attend the event was part of the city's broader announcement detailing updates on the Denison Park Project. Initiatives include the installation of a splash pad—a modern playground feature to help kids cool off during hot summer days. City officials have confirmed that the splash pad's installation is slated to promptly commence, with an exact start date to be announced once confirmed by GameTime, the company behind the installation. Residents can view the updated layout for the splash pad now, which reflects the revised plans for the space.
Additionally, the park's overhaul includes improvements to its landscaping, with the final grading and reintroduction of green space where the old pool house once stood, and the near completion of a highly requested pickleball court. The City of Cleveland Heights stated, "The final surface layer of asphalt has been laid and is now curing for 45 days," a necessary step before applying paint or striping. Over two weeks' time, the courts are expected to be ready for play, complete with net installation and perimeter fencing.
The city hall's announcement also revealed the completion of the new synthetic turf soccer field, with SCG Fields confirming the project will wrap up early next week. This advancement is set to greatly enhance the park's ability to support expanded programming and recreational activities. The newly finished field will see its first action starting Friday, August 1, gearing up for the upcoming local youth clinic and community celebration.
