The tragic incident, which occurred shortly before 8:40 pm, claimed the life of 56-year-old Carlton Herndon from Clinton, Maryland. According to an official statement released by the Maryland State Police, Herndon was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical service personnel.
The accident happened as Herndon, driving a Nissan Maxima, tried to cross Route 301 but entered into the path of a northbound Ford F-250 truck driven by 34-year-old Anthony Coleman of Upper Marlboro.
