The City Council of Colorado Springs is seeking community members who are eager to shape the city's future. In an initiative to foster civic participation, they are actively seeking volunteers to occupy spots on various Boards, Commissions, and Committees that are critical to the city's evolution and infrastructure.
Interested individuals can lend their expertise to the Planning Commission, which plays a significant part in supervising development projects and advising on citywide planning endeavors. As reported by the City of Colorado Springs, the Commission specifically needs one voting member and alternate members to review key documents such as zoning changes and annexations. Planning Commission meetings are scheduled for two regular monthly sessions, including a first Thursday informal session and a second Wednesday formal session, both commencing at 9 a.m.
The city is also addressing the critical matter of its stormwater system by inviting applications for the Stormwater Advisory Committee. The Committee, which offers citizen insights to the City Council on stormwater enterprise operations, is looking for one resident and one nonprofit representative. They meet quarterly, every third Thursday of the month at 2 p.m. This committee's role includes the advisory stance and construction of recommendations concerning stormwater projects.
