An Ohio man has received multiple life sentences following a gruesome string of murders that shook the Columbus community. Larry J. Williams, Jr., known also as "J Streets" and "J", was sentenced on July 1 to three consecutive life terms plus an additional five concurrent life sentences, according to a press release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The 44-year-old led a narcotics conspiracy in 2018 that spiraled into a violent spree, ending with the murder of three individuals and the dismemberment and burial of two victims’ bodies.
The convictions stem from a fatal plan to rob a marijuana dealer in Columbus. In the course of the robbery at 847 E.N. Broadway, Williams murdered Connor Reynolds, a 23-year-old from Grove City. To prevent information about the incident from reaching the police, he subsequently killed Henry Watson, 52, and Tera Pennington, 48, in August 2018, both of Columbus. According to the court documents obtained by ICE, Williams also directed others to clean the crime scene and dispose of Watson's and Pennington's bodies to obscure their deaths.
Following a three-week trial in December 2024, Williams was found guilty of all 16 counts in a second superseding indictment, which included charges of murder and obstruction of justice. He was convicted of operating a drug premises at 121 Stevens Ave., dealing in substances such as fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Addicts were reportedly allowed to use drugs on the premises, where, on multiple occasions, overdoses occurred, and Narcan was used to revive users.
The murders, while connected to a narcotics operation, exhibit a chilling disregard for human life in an apparent effort to maintain control and secrecy within Williams's criminal enterprise. The acts of dismemberment and burial carried out under his direction underscore this narrative of power through terror. Victims Watson and Pennington were essentially erased, their remains hidden away as a brutal testament to the consequences of defying Williams's rule.
The sentencing of Williams closes a dark chapter for the community impacted by these crimes. It’s a story of a drug conspiracy escalating into a tale of cold-blooded murder — and a subsequent justice system's resolve to uphold the law and deliver sentences that reflect the severity of the offenses committed. For more detailed information on the sentencing, the ICE news release offers additional context and the legal outcome of this disturbing case.
