Cotati Police Department apprehended a driver whose blood alcohol content was found to be more than triple the legal limit. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with difficulty staying in its lane. This routine enforcement quickly escalated as the officers discovered an open container of alcohol in the car's cup holder, according to the Cotati Police Department.
The situation grew more alarming when, upon conducting field sobriety tests, the driver's BAC was measured at .25% blood alcohol content. This level of intoxication far exceeds California's legal limit of 0.08%. The driver was not only facing a DUI charge but was also operating on a suspended license, the result of a prior DUI conviction.
Further investigation revealed a staggering amount of evidence supporting the individual's disregard for public safety; officers found over 70 empty beer cans in the driver's car following the arrest.
