An early morning patrol led to a significant drug bust in Cotati. A male and female were contacted by a Cotati Patrol Sergeant around 1:30 AM in a parking lot on Helman Lane, where businesses had long closed their doors for the night. The encounter escalated into a search when it was discovered that the male was on felony probation, requiring him to submit to search and seizure, as reported by the Cotati Police Department via their official Facebook page.
During the search, police discovered a sizable amount of methamphetamine, around six ounces, on the male subject and in his vehicle and the drugs were packaged in various quantities, suggesting intent to distribute; along with more packaging material, "pay/owe" sheets, drug paraphernalia, and a diverse mix of paper money, the details were outlined in the Cotati Police Department's social media post. The female admitted to owning a meth pipe and hiding around one ounce of methamphetamine on her person, culminating in a total seizure of nearly half a pound of the controlled substance.
Consequently, the male was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell, a violation of his felony probation, and drug paraphernalia possession; he was later taken to Sonoma County Jail. As for the female, she faced charges for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, marking a strong response by local authorities against the trafficking and usage of illegal narcotics within their community.
