Residents of Dallas can expect to face another scorcher today, as temperatures are set to soar near 96 degrees, with heat index values climbing as high as 103. According to the National Weather Service, winds from the south southwest will blow at a mild 5 to 10 mph. Tonight, the skies will remain mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to a low of around 77 degrees and a steady southern breeze.
Looking ahead to Friday, the city will not see much relief from the heat as the forecast suggests an identical high of 96 degrees, featuring heat index values peaking at 100. Winds are expected to pick up, gusting as high as 25 mph. As the week progresses, Dallasites can anticipate a minimal 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms starting Saturday afternoon, but the overall pattern remains unchanged: blistering days followed by warm, southern wind-cooled evenings.
By Sunday, storm chances slightly increase to 30 percent, primarily surfacing post 1 pm. The temperatures, however, will stay consistent with the preceding days, hovering near 94 degrees. The pattern of partly sunny skies and chances for late-afternoon showers extends into Monday, with a high reaching 96 degrees once again. The night times offer a slight reprieve, settling around 77 degrees.
Capping off the forecast, Tuesday and Wednesday are slated to deliver the week's hottest temperatures, with the mercury expected to near the 98-degree mark. Evening conditions will remain mostly clear, with lows inching upward to around 79 for Tuesday night. While the presence of heat is relentless, the threat of storms appears to be taking a backseat, leaving Dallas with a week full of sun and a few possible, yet sparse, showers.
