The City of Dallas is gearing up for a special celebration of neighborhood betterment with its very first Love Your Block (LYB) Awards Ceremony this month. This initiative, made possible through Bloomberg Philanthropies and its Cities of Service, reaches far and wide into the heart of Dallas, invigorating community members to take the reins in the transformation of their neighborhoods, per the City of Dallas.
With a notable history of engaging over 50,000 residents and refurbishing more than 4,000 public spaces, LYB seeks not just to revitalize but to reinvent the communal landscape. Dallas has enthusiastically taken up this mantle, in its freshman year, the program has awarded upwards of $45,000 to 30 different local projects. These endeavors, sprawling across 11 council districts, encompass beautification work, litter reduction, educational ventures, and projects aimed at bolstering urban resiliency.
The ceremony is set to take place in the Flag Room at Dallas City Hall, an apt location for celebrating grassroots civic engagement and honoring the individuals and groups who've rolled up their sleeves for the betterment of the community. Dallas' partners on this venture, Keep Dallas Beautiful and Code Compliance Services, will join Bloomberg Philanthropies and Cities of Service in presenting the awards.
The event, scheduled for Friday, July 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., presents an opportunity not only to celebrate these initiatives but also to draw attention to their impact and inspire continued community-driven change.
