Dallas patrol officers thwarted a robbery while it was still unfolding. According to a report by the Dallas Police Department, at approximately 3:00 a.m. on June 22, officers were on routine patrol in the 9700 block of Walnut Hill Lane when they were approached by a store clerk.
The clerk reported a robbery in progress and indicated that the armed suspect was still at the scene. It was Jose Arias Cruz, 26, allegedly wielding a knife. The responding officers, without hesitation, entered the premises and safely subdued Cruz. Interim Assistant Chief Richard Foy commended the officers, "Our officers didn’t hesitate – they responded quickly and made sure everyone stayed safe," per the Dallas Police Department. Their actions potentially saved others from harm and contained a dangerous situation in real-time.
Cruz faced charges for Aggravated Robbery of a Business, which is recognized as a first-degree felony. Following the arrest, he was transported to Lew Sterrett Jail. This incident, now a case, has been officially recorded under number 088582-2025 by the authorities.
