Residents in a specific area of Dallas should prepare for a weekend indoors as trucks roll out to combat the buzzing nuisance that's been proven to carry the West Nile Virus. Dallas City News reports that mosquito samples in the city have come back positive for the virus, with scheduled spraying set from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between today and tomorrow if the weather behaves.
Brace yourselves, residents of the 10100 block of Church and surrounding streets, because that's where the city's pinpointed the critters, ranging from Ferndale Road down to Walnut Hill Lane, and Dove Trail Circle over to Vistadale Drive. While the spray's EPA-approved, it's not exactly perfume, so people are advised to clock in some quality indoor time or keep those windows rolled up tight if driving through these chemical clouds, and should you get doused, lather up because soap and water are your best friends.
Getting bitten by mosquitoes is about as fun as a root canal at the best of times, but now with the West Nile Virus in play, Dallas folks are encouraged to become nighttime introverts or at least suit up like it's winter in July. Don't skimp on the repellent, either—if it's meant to scare off bloodsuckers, it's your new best friend after dark.
