
The small town of Delavan, Wisconsin, reported the deaths of two out-of-state tourists on Delavan Lake over the weekend, according to local law enforcement. The Town of Delavan Police Department confirmed the death of a 57-year-old Illinois man last Saturday, who was found unresponsive on a boat near South Shore Drive. Within hours, the body of a 26-year-old Texas man was recovered from the lake’s waters, WISN reported.
Authorities initiated a search and rescue operation involving dive and sonar teams after two people were reported missing in the water around 3 p.m. Despite coordinated efforts, the operation concluded with the recovery of both individuals.
According to Journal Sentinel, authorities at Delavan Lake managed the emergencies, secured the area, and requested that residents and visitors maintain a distance to allow for uninterrupted operations.
The Delavan Police Department, in a statement obtained by Spectrum News 1, expressed condolences, stating, "This is a devastating and tragic incident, and our thoughts are with those affected during this incredibly difficult time." The department confirmed that no foul play is suspected in either case and that further details would be withheld out of respect for the families being notified.
