Destrehan residents are being advised of several road closures in their area due to ongoing construction and maintenance work. According to a public announcement from St. Charles Parish, drivers will encounter detours and delays as crews work on a variety of infrastructure projects.
A notable intersection at Lorraine St. and Amelia St. near the railroad tracks, technically known as Noel St., was closed until 3:00 pm on the previous day to facilitate the replacement of culverts. During this period, the closure was so extensive that not even emergency vehicles were granted passage, as reported by the St. Charles Parish official website. Additionally, Ormond Center Court saw blocks between famous local eateries due to construction works, but a detour has been implemented to keep the vehicle traffic moving.
On the topic of asphalt resurfacing, it is part of the St. Charles Parish Road Maintenance Program that's set to rejuvenate various streets this summer. The information released by the parish confirmed that Barriere Construction would be stationed on several roads, executing tasks from patching to milling, and overlay paving. The schedule details specific dates and locations over the course of two weeks, with flaggers assisting in traffic management on Schexnaydre Lane and a complete closure on Vans Lane, effectively barring emergency vehicles.
Looking ahead, continued paving work is expected on Fifth Street in Norco, causing potential inconveniences today, July 11, and tomorrow, July 12.
