Heads up, commuters and residents in the Damascus area: you’ll need to plan for detours if you’re using Ride On Bus Route 90 this Friday. A celebratory parade for "Celebrate Damascus" means a temporary route change to accommodate the festivities. The bus will reroute from Woodfield Road, turn left on Valley Park Drive, followed by another left on Ridge Road before resuming its regular path. As a result, several stops will be skipped, including 27533, 27534, 27536, 28318, 25320, 25322, 25324, 25308, and 25332. Travelers are encouraged to use stops 25328 and 25304 instead.
When it comes to the pocketbook, here’s some good news: Montgomery County has recently made all Ride On, Ride On extRa, Ride On Flex, and Flash buses fare-free. This zero-fare policy, which went into effect on June 29, will surely be welcomed by commuters amidst a climate of escalating living costs, an initiative aimed at providing economic relief and encouraging public transit use. Users should expect buses to be more packed than usual during this period, given these new fare policies.
