
Detroit police are currently handling an investigation following a grisly discovery made yesterday evening. According to CBS News Detroit, three men were found dead, all suffering from gunshot wounds, in what has been deemed an apparent murder-suicide on the city's west side. Detroit Police Captain Marcus Thirlkill told the media that the incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. in the 20400 block of Pinehurst Street, appears to have stemmed from a domestic situation involving family members.
The police effort has to quickly determine what led to the shooting amid the horror that has since gripped the local community. Captain Thirlkill, indicating a complex and evolving investigation, stated, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family for this very unfortunate incident that took place on the city's west side," as per a report by CBS News Detroit. The three victims were identified as two men, one in his late 40s, the other in his mid-50s, and a third man believed to be responsible for the shooting, in his late 20s.
As the Detroit Homicide Task Force, which involves Detroit police and Michigan State Police, steps forward to lead the investigation, the Detroit News reported that authorities have not yet disclosed the names of the deceased. Neighbors have described the neighborhood as a tight-knit community, one not known for violent disruptions, expressing their shock over the event, with neighbor Jeffrey Cain saying, "Something happens like that, and it shocks everybody around here," as noted by CBS News Detroit.
Further details regarding potential motives and the circumstances leading up to the tragedy are still being thoroughly sought after by investigators. In a statement by Captain Thirlkill obtained by ClickOnDetroit, he conveyed his condolences, saying, "At some point in time, I’m sure we’ll be able to dive into the reason for this tragic incident, but at this time, our thoughts and prayers go out to this family."
