The Department of Human Services recently held a Rapid Response event in Waimānalo to provide support during the economic downturn. In partnership with We Are Oceania and other state agencies, Department of Human Services offered services such as Medicaid, nutritional assistance, financial aid, child care subsidies, and employment support. The event was led by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations' Workforce Development Division, according to the Office of the Governor.
The event involved Department of Human Services staff, many of whom have personal ties to Waimānalo. They provided services to support local residents during times of change and uncertainty. The effort was well received by the community, as reported by the Office of the Governor.
A former Hawai‘i Job Corps student, now with We Are Oceania, returned to Waimānalo to take part in a community event. The Hawai‘i Job Corps program will continue operating following a recent federal court ruling. The decision was welcomed by the Waimānalo community, where the program remains an important local and statewide resource. Department of Human Services staff at the event also participated and noted their connection to the community, as stated by the Office of the Governor.
