Disney's Hollywood Studios is charting a nostalgic course back to its original animation roots with the announcement of a new attraction, "The Magic of Disney Animation," slated to open its doors in 2026. In a space previously occupied by Star Wars: Launch Bay, the park is set to revive the spirit of the Burbank animation studio. A press release from Disney, referenced by ClickOrlando, reveals plans for an interactive experience where "guests will explore different studio departments brought to life by beloved Disney characters."
As the park prepares to bring the splendor of animation to life, visitors can expect to be treated to a series of immersive experiences. They will have the chance to, according to WESH, "laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences." Mickey's iconic Sorcerer Hat will stand prominently at the entrance, as Disney aims to recreate the whimsy of its California counterpart. "Our film came from the heart and from a desire of all the Disney Animation artists wanting to celebrate our artistic accomplishments and a passion for the studio’s legacy," "Once Upon a Studio" director Trent Correy told ClickOrlando.
Inside, families will find "Drawn to Wonderland," an indoor playground featuring Mary Blair's "Alice in Wonderland" concept art, complete with an oversized flower garden and Tulgey Wood exploration zone. Visitors can look forward to animated portraits, a short film in the Screening Theater, and the opportunity to learn how to draw their favorite Disney characters. While Animation Courtyard, Star Wars: Launch Bay, and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! are set to close on September 25 to make way for the renovations, "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" and Walt Disney Presents will remain open for guests.
