Two young men were shot and killed in an incident in the Bronx. According to ABC7 New York, the shooting occurred shortly after 5:35 a.m. yesterday in the parking lot of Ferry Point Park. Authorities reported that two masked individuals on scooters approached and opened fire on 22-year-old Gabriel Alvarez and 21-year-old Adam Waldropt. Alvarez sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder and torso and was later pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital.
Waldropt, who suffered gunshot wounds to the back and abdomen, was transported to the same hospital, where he later died. A nearby resident commented on the incident, telling ABC7 New York, "It's definitely scary for us to see this. Because we usually come here over the weekend, but seeing this, you know we have a second thought coming in here."
The New York Post reports that the attack left behind 13 shell casings and five live rounds. The motives behind the shooting remain unclear, and the gunmen, last seen wearing ski masks, managed to escape on a moped and had not been captured.
Following the shooting, detectives wearing bulletproof vests canvassed the area in search of evidence. The crime scene extended into Ferry Point Park, where forensic teams examined discarded alcohol bottles and cans for potential clues.
