Earlier today, a series of collisions unfolded in Midtown Manhattan after a driver struck multiple vehicles, including a New York Police Department cruiser. The incident began shortly before 7 a.m. when a motorist was hit in front of 300 Park Avenue, and escalated as the same vehicle continued on to collide with several others, including a police car, according to ABC7 New York.
NYPD officers responded quickly to the scene, but during their intervention, one of their vehicles became a target of the driver’s rampage. Despite the police presence, the driver continued his destructive path through Midtown. The reckless drive ended at the corner of East 50th Street and Lexington Avenue, where authorities apprehended the 45-year-old male driver, as reported by 1010 WINS.
No injuries were reported from this string of events, despite the number of vehicles damaged. The driver was taken into custody and is being held for questioning at the Midtown North police precinct. Charges are pending while the investigation of the incident continues.
