The Dyer County Sheriff's Office is urging the public to come forward with any information related to an abandoned infant found yesterday in what has been described as a disturbing and heartbreaking situation. According to a post by the Dyer County Sheriff's Office, local authorities are seeking to speak with three individuals—Cortney Rose, Matthew Wilson, and Adrianna Williams—in connection with the abandoned child and are asking for any information on their whereabouts.
In details leading up to this appeal, authorities were alerted to the situation at approximately 3:11 PM, when a passerby took the action to call 911 upon discovering an infant, snug in a car seat, left unattended at a front yard along Old Highway 20 near Tigrett—the finding comes with an added urgency given the baby's vulnerability and the searing questions that circulate, who would do this and why? The post by the Dyer County Sheriff's Office highlighted their determination towards a comprehensive investigation, “Our investigators have identified the child and they would like to speak with Cortney Rose, Matthew Wilson, and Adrianna Williams," it read, “Again, we are early in this investigation and pledge a full and thorough investigation. Please be patient and reserve judgment as we establish the facts.”
The infant, whose image, cradled by a paramedic, circulated online, drew the community's attention alongside the authorities' call for vigilance, urging locals to be on the lookout for a dark-colored minivan or a white mid-size SUV—the two vehicle types reported at the scene. A coordinated response ensued involving Dyer County Sheriff's Office, Crockett County Sheriff's Office, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, their collective efforts zeroing in on the few strands of information available.
Echoing the sentiment to contribute, the Dyer County Sheriff's Office emphasized the potential significance of public help, “If you have any information as to their whereabouts, please contact the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office at 731-285-2802,” with Medical Center EMS and Crockett County Ambulance Service already having responded to assess the baby's condition.
