According to an update posted by the Eden Prairie Police Department (EPPD), community members now have the chance to peel back the curtain on law enforcement operations through the free Citizens Academy program set to kick off this fall.
Interested locals can throw their names into the hat through a lottery system by filling out an application by the August 11 deadline, hoping to secure one of the limited spots for this immersive, six-week course. As seen on the EPPD's bulletin, the sessions will explore various police functions ranging from SWAT tactics to DWI enforcement, slated for every Tuesday evening from September 16 to October 21.
Before you apply, there are a few boxes to tick: applicants must be at least 21 years old, live or work within Eden Prairie, agree to attend all sessions, and pass a straightforward background check. As an added perk to participants, each class comes paired with a light dinner, offering both sustenance and knowledge on the same plate.
What's more, this opportunity doesn't come with a price tag. The Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund has generously taken care of the costs, as noted by EPPD.
