
The communication team at El Paso ISD has made its mark on the national stage, as recognized by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). In a recent series of announcements, the team snagged multiple distinctions at the 2025 Golden Achievement and Publication and Digital Media Excellence Awards, illustrating their commitment to enhancing the dialogue between the school district and its community members.
Among the achievements, the district's State of the District event was highlighted, praised for "elevating community awareness and engagement through a multimedia event showcasing the district’s progress, student success, and future-focused initiatives," as described by El Paso ISD. Further earning praise and recognition was their Destination District Redesign campaign, which provided essential resources to families to assist in navigating the school district's redesign process.
However, the accolades didn't stop with strategic communications. El Paso ISD also brought home the award for Website Excellence, a nod to its revamped website intimately tied to streamlined navigation and improved user experiences for parents, teachers, and students. Liza Rodriguez, Chief Communications Officer, conveyed the team’s sentiment, as obtained by El Paso ISD: "We’re really proud to bring national awards to El Paso. We are committed to meaningful communication that builds trust and strengthens our connection with the families and community we serve, and to see those efforts recognized by our peers across the country is inspiring and rewarding."
The NSPRA also acknowledged El Paso ISD with additional laurels, including a Writing Award of Excellence for Opinion pieces, suggesting a bright future for the district. Visible success stories were showcased through a Video Award of Excellence featuring an Alumnus Spotlight on a Paralympic Silver Medalist and a Photography Award of Excellence for an uplifting tale from Soccer to Miss Teen Universe Mexico.
Acknowledgements for engaging the public continued, as El Paso ISD was also given a Video Award of Merit for their lively 2024 Locos Night Ad and a Social Media Award of Merit for their Back to School Fiesta. Not forgetting the tender moments, the district received a Photography Award of Merit for capturing the interaction of Santa with sign language and an Honorable Mention for transitioning from the football field to the marching band.
