The El Paso County Sheriff's Office, through a social media post, detailed the detention of Antonio Chavez, who is accused of duping an elderly resident through his business, EP Chavez Construction.
Allegations against Chavez, who came about from an elderly victim, involve accepting payments for a home remodeling project that was never started. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office report states that despite the victim's multiple payments, EP Chavez Construction became unresponsive, drawing the attention of law enforcement. Over six months, Chavez allegedly continued to assure the victim that work would begin or a refund would be provided, neither of which materialized.
Investigative work led to a sufficiently substantial body of evidence compelling a warrant for Chavez's arrest. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, he faces the charge of Theft of Property valued at under $30,000 and was taken to the El Paso County Detention Facility. The bond set for Chavez amounts to $5,000.
