
A 76-year-old male pedestrian, who was struck by a vehicle on May 25 at around 9 p.m. at 4600 West Orem Drive, has succumbed to his injuries, as reported by the Houston police. The man's identity is still being withheld pending notification of next of kin, as per the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The City of Houston news release states that the individual was not in a crosswalk when he stepped onto the roadway and was hit by an eastbound gray Hyundai Sonata. Following the incident, he was transported to an area hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics, where he later died.
According to the same news release, the driver of the Sonata and its passengers were unharmed in the collision. The driver, who exhibited no signs of intoxication, cooperated with police at the scene, was questioned, and subsequently released. Investigators were informed of the man's death yesterday, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
