Harrison County drivers may need to fine-tune their morning commutes tomorrow. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), there's an emergency closure on tap for Route T, owing to recent storm damage that's wreaked havoc on the area's infrastructure. Specifically, a culvert is in dire need of repair after the onslaught of rain. MoDOT disclosed that beginning tomorrow, the stretch from 260th Street to 280th Street on Route T will be off-limits to traffic.
The closure is pinpointed to run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., time enough to get in, get out, and hopefully get it fixed without further disrupting local movement. Motorists are advised to already start planning to detour around this section. As always, such interruptions come with the plea to embrace patience and to allow safety to take the forefront—so, give yourself a cushion of time and consider road alternatives ahead of Tuesday's traffic shuffle.
Drivers on the quest for real-time updates won't be left in the dark. The Traveler Information Map is available online, providing the latest on road conditions at traveler.modot.org/map. It's a resource worth keeping at the ready, especially when road closures and repair work seem to have become more frequent visitors in our lives. After all, knowing is half the battle when it comes to dodging traffic snarls.
There's also a call from MoDOT to "work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down, and moving over in work zones." It's a reminder that despite the inconvenience, the goal is to ensure everyone gets to where they are going—not just swiftly, but more importantly, safely. It's on each driver to actively choose to put safety in their way of doing things, and not just wait for the signs to dictate.
